About Our Gift Cards

SOYER gift cards (“Gift Cards”) are issued by Soyer (“SOYER,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a private chef service based in New Zealand. Gift Cards can be redeemed toward private dining experiences, tasting menus, and other culinary services offered by SOYER.

By purchasing or redeeming a SOYER Gift Card, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. These terms are governed by New Zealand law, including the Fair Trading Act 1986 (as amended by the Fair Trading (Gift Card Expiry) Amendment Act 2024) and the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

Available Denominations

Gift Cards are available in the following values: $250 · $500 · $750 · $1,000 · Custom amount.

Gift Cards may also be issued as experience-specific vouchers for a defined dining event.

02

Purchasing a Gift Card

Gift Cards may be purchased through our website at soyer.co.nz or by contacting us directly through the enquiry page. Payment is required in full at the time of purchase.

Gift Cards are available as digital cards delivered by email, or as physical cards sent by post in a presentation box. Physical cards are dispatched to New Zealand addresses only and are sent within 3–5 working days of purchase.

Gift Cards are issued in New Zealand dollars (NZD). SOYER is not responsible for any currency conversion fees charged by third parties.

03

Validity & Expiry

In accordance with the Fair Trading (Gift Card Expiry) Amendment Act 2024, all SOYER Gift Cards sold on or after 16 March 2026 are valid for a minimum of three (3) years from the date of purchase. The expiry date is stated prominently on each Gift Card.

Any unused balance remaining after the expiry date will be forfeited and cannot be redeemed, refunded, or transferred. It is the responsibility of the Gift Card holder to use the card before the stated expiry date.

No fees will be charged for the use of a Gift Card prior to its expiry date.

04

Redemption

Gift Cards may be redeemed toward:

  • Private dining experiences and tasting menus prepared by SOYER
  • Chef’s table events and curated supper experiences
  • Other culinary services offered directly by SOYER

Gift Cards cannot be used to purchase another Gift Card.

If the cost of your booking exceeds the value of your Gift Card, the remaining balance must be paid by an accepted payment method at the time of booking confirmation. If the cost of your booking is less than the value of your Gift Card, the remaining balance will be retained on the card for future use within the validity period.

Gift Cards have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash, exchanged for currency, or used as payment toward gratuity unless expressly stated.

To redeem your Gift Card, quote your unique Gift Card code when making a booking with SOYER.

05

Booking & Scheduling

A Gift Card does not guarantee availability on any specific date. All bookings are subject to SOYER’s availability and must be confirmed in advance by contacting us through the enquiry page.

We recommend contacting us as early as possible to arrange your preferred date, particularly during peak periods such as holidays, weekends, and special occasions. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate your preferred date within the validity period of your Gift Card.

Bookings are confirmed only upon receipt of written confirmation from SOYER. A credit card may be required to secure the booking.

06

Cancellation & Rescheduling

We understand that plans change. Our cancellation policy is as follows:

  • More than 14 days’ notice: Your booking may be rescheduled at no charge, subject to availability. Your Gift Card balance will be retained in full.
  • Between 7–14 days’ notice: A rescheduling fee may apply. We will make every effort to find a suitable alternative date.
  • Less than 7 days’ notice or no-show: The full value of the confirmed experience may be forfeited from the Gift Card balance.

Cancellations must be made in writing through the enquiry page. The date of cancellation is the date on which we receive your written notice.

In the event SOYER must cancel a confirmed booking due to unforeseen circumstances (such as illness or emergency), we will offer a full reschedule or, where a reschedule is not possible within the validity period, a refund of the Gift Card value.

07

Refunds

Gift Cards are generally non-refundable once purchased, except in the following circumstances:

  • SOYER cancels your confirmed booking and is unable to reschedule within the Gift Card’s validity period.
  • You are entitled to a remedy under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Where a refund is issued, it will be returned to the original payment method used at the time of purchase, within 10 working days.

08

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Cards

Please treat your Gift Card like cash. SOYER is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged Gift Cards, and cards will not be replaced or reimbursed if lost or stolen.

If you believe your digital Gift Card has been compromised, please contact us immediately through the enquiry page. We will make reasonable efforts to assist but cannot guarantee the recovery of any unused balance.

09

Dietary Requirements & Allergies

When redeeming a Gift Card, the recipient is responsible for communicating any dietary requirements, food allergies, or intolerances to SOYER at the time of booking, and no later than 7 days prior to the event date.

While SOYER takes every care to accommodate dietary needs, we cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment. Guests with severe allergies are encouraged to contact us directly to discuss their requirements before confirming a booking.

Failure to disclose dietary requirements in advance may limit our ability to accommodate them on the event date.

10

Transferability

Gift Cards are freely transferable. The person presenting the Gift Card code at the time of redemption will be treated as the authorised holder, and SOYER accepts no liability for unauthorised use prior to notification of loss or theft.

Gift Cards may not be resold for commercial gain or used in connection with any competition, promotional, or advertising activity without SOYER’s prior written consent.

11

Our Rights

SOYER reserves the right to:

  • Refuse to honour a Gift Card that it reasonably suspects has been obtained fraudulently, tampered with, or is being used in breach of these terms.
  • Amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will not affect Gift Cards already purchased; those remain subject to the terms in force at the time of purchase.
  • Withdraw or discontinue Gift Cards at any time, provided that valid Gift Cards already purchased will continue to be honoured until their stated expiry date.
12

Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising in connection with a SOYER Gift Card will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, or any other applicable New Zealand consumer protection legislation.
